Modern handheld gaming has long been dominated by Nintendo and Sony. Each hardware manufacturer has multiple viable offerings derived either directly, or evolving from the respective DS and PlayStation Portable product lines. All of these devices are impressive multifunctional devices, with designs meant to encourage gameplay on the go, integration with the Internet, backwards compatibility to previous games, and so on, but each goes about this in different ways. Taking a few minutes to examine the main features, and getting more familiar with available options, accessories and possible limitations of each handheld is the optimal way to determine which is the best choice for a player.

Revisting The DS Lite Since Nintendo orignally came out with the Nintendo DS back in 2004, it fully brought in a whole new way we play video games on the go. Since then, gamers everywhere have been rejoyced with with video games that have been now recognized as classics like Super Mario 64 DS, the addictive puzzle game Meteos, and the addictive mental challenge of Brain Age. But, there have been also a lot of great bundle packs that also have been made like back in 2005, when the original DS was made with the fast and furiousness of Mario Kart DS. But that also could in 2006 when Nintendo remade the DS, into the popular DS Lite, which also delivers top notch gameplay, and the ability to play against other gamers online. Now, just in time for the holidays, a pair of special Nintendo DS Lite bundle packs have been made to make your favorite gamer happy on the go.

Non-existent quality control Pre-ordered this item as soon as it became available on amazon.com and it was going to be a big surprise for my 5 yr old as she was hoping for a DS, a big fan of Mario Bros and her favorite color is red. It just couldn’t get any better than this bundle.Today we all had a major disappointment. The touch screen simply didn’t work. In fact, I believe it was not even a touch screen that was installed in that spot. I don’t expect great quality or workmanship for something so relatively inexpensive and slapped together in China but I do expect some semblance of quality control to power on the device and check of basic functionality. Clearly no one bothered with this unit.As a result a little girl’s Christmas wish was shattered and I have to go hunt down a new one. This is simply unacceptable. The only bright spot is that Amazon is so good with returns.
